ABOUT DAVID KANTEY
ART: David began his art career as an apprentice in the growing Batik business of the successful Simran Batik community of artists, and over the next 15 years created beautiful popular Whale and Dolphin imagery. In 2002, he made the successful transition to oil and acrylic paints and has been working in these mediums for the last 20 years at his studio/gallery in The Tides estate, right on the water's edge of the Keurbooms Lagoon, Plettenberg Bay. His earlier works were very accurate realism: Landscapes, seascapes, wildlife, and animal portraits on commission.
David has a constant demand for his works - locally, nationally, and internationally - and a large part of these sales are commissioned works. His works are modern, colourful, semi-abstract sea and landscapes, with a very strong emphasis on light, textures and fine detail. He is constantly striving creatively to grow his arts expression and the phases of this growth, always challenge his skills and vision over the years, earning him a solid reputation as a premier fine artist.
