Fruzz and the Fabled Planet

Join us for a ‘reading’ with a difference by author Sue Swain as you are introduced to the adventure of discovery that is Fruzz and the Fabled Planet. Get to ‘meet’ the quirky and endlessly curious Fruzz and the wonderfully talented Julie Carlisle, the artist who brought Fruzz visually to life. Inspired by her passion for nature and the fascinating field of “biomimicry”, Sue is a Kwendalo Associate and has dedicated the last few years to crafting the story of earth’s unique qualities in a way that’s appealing from ages 6 and above, with educational content aimed at 9 – 90 year olds. Books will be on sale on the day.

TWO LUCKY PEOPLE AT THE EVENT WILL BE RECIPIENTS OF THE BIOMIMICRY CARD GAME TO THE VALUE OF R250, IN THE LUCKY DRAW.

MORE ABOUT FRUZZ AND THE FABLED PLANET The Fruzz series, packaged in the form of short books, is a work of creative non-fiction (or perhaps a fictional tale inspired by fact) and is an unfolding adventure of discovery that reveals the secrets to thriving in the universe’s singularly perfect planet by learning from those in the know. The series aims to evoke wonder, awe, gratitude and love for this incredible planet we are privileged to call home and to inspire a profound reconnection and belonging with Mother Nature.

A 30 minute presentation followed by 15 minutes of Q&A.

Come early or stay after the talk to view The Alchemy of Art exhibition at the Harmony Centre. Why not book for lunch at the Kwendalo Green Cafe?  044 004 0366 or Whatsapp 063 669 8006

ABOUT SUE SWAIN

Sue, a qualified nature conservationist, has largely dedicated her career of 35+ years to environmental education and in particular, to promoting the practice of biomimicry. Having given over 200 presentations and provided training workshops, Sue now shares her time between offering forest immersion experiences with a unique focus on reconnecting with and revaluing Nature, and researching and writing the Fruzz tales.

ABOUT JULIE CARLISLE

Born and raised in Johannesburg, Julie developed a passion for nature's colours and shapes from a young age and has enjoyed a 40-year career mainly in environmental and community programmes across Southern Africa. She has also illustrated several books. Julie felt a strong need to express her connection to nature through art, particularly to the magic of light and shade found in ancient forests. Julie and Sue Swain met in the Garden Route in 2008, sparking a lasting friendship. It’s been a magical journey for Julie… exploring and identifying her place in nature and opening up to the awe of creation and alchemy of life in colour.
