Originating in Johannesburg in 2006 as an emergency fundraising drive for inner-city education, the movement has grown into a celebrated exhibition format replicated across the country and abroad. The premise is entirely egalitarian: anyone from established professional artists, illustrators, and sculptors to school children, passionate amateurs, and local residents donates original creative work on a standardized A5 sheet. Every piece is exhibited anonymously and sold at a single, accessible flat rate, with creator identities revealed only on the back after collection. The school hall will be transformed into an atmospheric "curiosity shop" gallery, featuring over one thousand A5 works suspended on laundry lines beneath warm canopy fairy lights.
